Tragedy: How Tanker Explosion Killed People Along Benin -Ore Road
Two persons were said to have been burnt to death in a fuel tanker accident along Ofosu axis, Ore-Benin expressway in Ondo State yesterday.
It was also learnt that one other person was seriously injured when a tanker fully laden with diesel exploded some 28 kilometres after Ore town.
The accident occurred around 2pm when the driver of the tanker lost control of the vehicle and tumbled severally before the truck caught fire.
According to eyewitnesses, while the tanker driver with about 33,000 litres of diesel was said to have been struggling to escape from the truck, the tanker exploded.
He explained further that the driver and one other person in the truck were burnt beyond recognition .
He further narrated that the third person was rescued by some people and was taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention .
The accident caused gridlock on the ever busy road for more than two hours as motorists were stranded on the road.
