Manchester United have finally made progress in their protracted pursuit of Toby Alderweireld, after arriving at a compromise with Tottenham over a £60 million fee, the Mirror reports.
United and Spurs have found a common ground in the past two days and the Belgian centre-back is now set to move to Old Trafford ahead of Thursday’s deadline.
United have also been linked to Harry Maguire and Yerry Mina, but Alderweireld’s Premier League appears to have made him a priority for Jose Mourinho.
It, however, remains to be seen who he will line up within United’s defence, with Eric Bailly, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones still among Mourinho’s options.
Manchester United face Leicester City in the season’s opener next Friday.
