The protest against the Rector of Lagos State Polytechnic, Mr Samuel Sogunro and its management team reached a crescendo on Friday, August 11, 2017.

Members of Academics Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), Senior Staff Association Nigeria Polytechnics (SSANIP) and Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU), Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH) Chapters, who have been protesting since Monday, set up fire to make bean cakes in front of the Library Complex which also house the administrative and the Rector’s offices.

According to them, the significance of the bean cakes is to celebrate the exit of Mr Sogunro as the Rector of the institution. “We mourn the bad leadership of Sogunro and the negative history he has brought to LASPOTECH with Akara Elepo. May we never experience this kind of misnomer in LASPOTECH again” they said.

Another protester added, “the making of akara elepo (bean cakes) is also to usher Sogunro and his bad leadership out of our campus and usher in peace, harmony and good governance”.
