Prison Break in Nsukka. 15 inmates escapes

Nsukka prison break

15 inmates of the Nsukka Prison in Enugu State escaped yesterday night. News reaching us from a reliable source said the inmate somehow broke their cells and jumped over the perimeter fence. If they had help we dont know. They did that before prison guard knew what was happening. The source said, ‘The inmates carefully opened their cells and scaled the perimeter fence of the prisons. Before prison officials on night duty knew what was happening, about 15 inmates had escaped’

Lawrence Okonkwo, the Controller of the prison comfirmd the report but refused to declare the actual number of prisons that escaped. He said, ‘Yes there was a jail break last night in Nsukka prison but I am not in a position to say how many prisoners escaped. We are expecting the Enugu state Prisons Controller, Isaiah Amariri, in Nsukka prison so that we brief him on what happened last night. He will be the one to tell the public the number of inmates that escaped, rearrested ones, and efforts put in place to arrest those still on the run.’

However there is an unconfirmed reports that 2 of the escaped prisoners have been rearrested.
