NIS intercepts Sunshine Express bus trafficking Children
The Ebonyi State Command of Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) on Wednesday intercepted an 18 sitter bus trafficking underage children from Cross River to Edo State. The bus had a registration number Lagos LDD-468XH with Ondo State Sunshine Express written on it.
State Acting Controller of NIS, Barrister Okey Ezugwu said after interrogating the people involved they confessed that they were going to Ondo while some we be sent to Benin to work in a Cocoa plantation.
Speaking to Vanguard Barrister Okey Ezugwu spoke on how these children were usually expose to harsh conditions. He also stated that these children shoudn’t be on a trip without their parents.
He warned parents to stop giving their children out to strangers for monetary and material gains. According to him, parents have the responsibility of taking care of their children, knowing the companies they keep, where they go, and whatever they are doing at every point in time.
