Nigerian man nabbed in India with 155.5 grams of cocaine. He was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), in Bengaluru on Wednesday when he tried to transport it from Mumbai to the city.
The detained identified to be Ozy Chukwudu, 30, was intercepted by the NCB sleuths when he disembarked from a sleeper bus from Mumbai to Bengaluru.
With information of cocaine smuggling known by the NCB team, they were then waiting for his arrival from Mumbai.
Ozy Chukwudu, who did possess a passport and other documents, was carrying a polythene bag with 11 capsules and cocaine.
The drug was carried to Mumbai by an unidentified man hiding it in his stomach and it was delivered to Chukwudu so as to transport it to Bengaluru.
A press release by the NCB, Bengaluru, the value of the contraband is said to be around Rs 93 lakh in the international market of today.
“Based on examination, he was arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act,” said Sunil Kumar Sinha, zonal director, NCB, Bengaluru.
He was brought before the court yesterday to be tried.
