He stated equivocally that: ‘music is my life, I can’t do without music, its part of me, it makes me happy, it makes me complete. I can’t stay a day without singing’
He started his musical career at a very tender age. The first music he composed was with his sister’s name. He confirmed that his dad never supported his early musical foray, because he knows Fela very well, and he was not wishing his son to take after Fela. But this fired me on, instead of making me to give up on music says GP White.
His first hit track, ‘ gimme more’ was recorded at the age of 15; the song overtook his peaceful and bubbling vicinity in Lagos, as people began to wonder what manner of petite musical star is this. However, the encomiums he garnered with that first music made him to go ahead and produced over 14 hit tracks, and still counting.
He has rocked and entertained many shows both in Owerri and Lagos; currently GP white is a student of Imo State University. In the University, he has won an award as the most talented student among others. ‘GP’ means (God’s Power), and he has repeatedly maintained that his inspiration comes from God.
‘I play football very well, but my love for music can never be compared with the one I have for music; music is in me, I love music with my whole heart’. However, with persistence, dint of hard work, and courage, he was able to convince his parents to give their consent on his musical path and today they are reaping the dividends of his musical excellence.
He is 100% ready and eager to take Nigerian music to the next level.
