Michael B. Jordan Confirms Black Panther Casting Rumors
We’ve been hearing all sorts of rumors about Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther which are only making fans more and more excited for the project following the character’s incredible debut in Captain America: Civil War. There’s no doubt that the movie had a lot of great characters such as Spider-Man and Ant-Man, but it’s clear that Black Panther was the one who stood out the most out of the ensemble.
His own standalone movie will enter production next January, so it’s safe to say that Marvel Studios and Coogler are currently looking to round out the cast. Creed star Michael B. Jordan and Star Wars: The Force Awakens actress Lupita Nyong’o were reportedly in the mix to join Chadwick Boseman in the project and it looks like both of them have now been confirmed as part of the cast.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter at the ninth annual Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic, Jordan confirmed that he has signed on for the project. While he wouldn’t reveal the identity of his character, he did say that he’s looking forward to working with Lupita Nyong’o and Boseman, meaning that the actress has also joined the cast of the movie. Here’s what Jordan told the trade:
“I’m super excited, especially to put a different spin on it. I’m looking forward to working with Ryan [Coogler] once again. It’s gonna be a good time. I can’t wait to work with Lupita Nyong’o and Chadwick Boseman.”
There’s not much that we know about Jordan’s role so far, but it’s said that he’s going to be a villain in the movie. I’d love to see him as White Wolf, but he could be playing anyone. As for Nyong’o, rumor has it that she’s going to play Black Panther’s love interest, so for now it looks like we’ll have to wait and see to find out.
