Martins fires blank in Shanghai Shenhua draw

The forward was on start to finish but failed to score as his side got an away draw at the Qinhuangdao Stadium

Obafemi Martins was not on the scorer’s sheet as Shaghai Shenhua played a 2-2 against Hebei CFFC in a Chinese Super League game played on Wednesday.

Goals from Cao Yun and Demba Ba helped The Flower of Shangha secure a value away point at the Qinhuangdao Stadium as Stephane M’Bia was on target twice for the hosts.

Shenhua had taken the lead 15 minutes into the game after Yun had headed in a cross from Wang Yun. And 12 minutes later, M’Bia leveled for the hosts after converting from Gael Kakuta’s pass.

Zhong Jinji Hee teed Ba who scored from long range to put his side ahead in the 65 minutes, but Cameroon skipper Mbia completed his brace with another fine header in the 67th minute.

Nigeria’s Martins was on from start to finish but was unlucky not to have scored despite his tireless run. He now extends his barren spell to three games having scored last in his side’s 5-1 defeat of Guangzhou R&F F.C.
