LASU SUSPENDS 84 UNDERGRADUATES. 43 ARE 100 LEVEL
Lagos State University LASU have just sanctioned 84 undergraduates. They were sanctioned on charges of improper dressing. A letter from the Dean of Student reveals that eight of those that have been sanctioned are final year students, 43 are in 100level, 20 in 200level and three in 300level. In the report it was discovered that a large number of the students came from Management science. 24 students were sanctioned from the department. The rest were from Faculty of Sciences, Faculty of Education and Faculty of Social Sciences. They recorded.
One Student aspiring to be the SUG president was also disqualified for failure to clear himself from cultism allegations. The student whose name was reported to be Yusuf Wasiu was suspended for alleged cultism activities in 2012 and have failed to provide documents to clear him from such allegations.
The Student Affairs director said, “Mr. Yusuf, Wasiu Omotola was given several opportunities to redeem himself by voluntarily and honorably opting out of the LASU SUG presidential race.
“There was no documentary evidence to prove he has been cleared of his allegation and suspension from the college.”
“The students have been magnanimously pardoned by the university authority and were warned to desist from the act of indecent dressing, henceforth or face disciplinary action.”
This is a welcome development and I think other universities should emulate such disciplinary measures. What do you think?
