How Davido Spoiled “Osinachi” Remix
Featuring of fellow artists in the remix of hit track is a normal trend in the booming Nigerian music industry. There is no gainsaying that these remixed songs have a lot to do for the original owner of the song and the featured artist. As much as it helps in making songs sweeter, it also gives it a different twist altogether and helps to keep the artist in the spotlight till he comes up with a new track.
In most of the remixes done in Nigeria, the featured artist does not have to depart from the original message of the song, but is only expected to bring in another angle to it. This is what Nigerians believe Davido failed to do in “Osinachi” remix where humble smith featured him.
The original theme of the song and its message was completely religious. “Osinachi” means, “It is from God,” and it is a song of praise. In the original song, Humble Smith is thanking God for everything good in his life – his woman, his family, his job, his songs, God’s blessings and every other thing. He never used the song to boast about inanities and to pick fights with people. But Davido’s lyrics in the remix seemed to suggest such, and Nigerians have attacked him on various platforms for spoiling the original song and bringing in his personal quarrels into a song that is meant to be a semi religious piece.
Many people are angry at his lyrics that said that it is not by force to go to Dubai. The line which questioned whether it is the reason for the fight did not augur well with Nigerians, who were almost using the song as a tool for their Sunday worship in churches.
He went ahead to say that people are out to destroy his career and to take away his favor, but that he has forgiven all those accusing him.
In the words of one of the people that commented,
“Davido carry him family problem enter the song, wahala dey.
Another fan wrote,
Humble Smith you disappointed your fans. This is the worst collabo ever. What has Davido issue got to do with Osinachi remix? Just because he is a big name! You messed this song up. No hating to OBO, I love all his works but spoiling this beautiful song, am disappointed.”
Meanwhile, many others are on the defensive side, trying to argue that nothing is wrong with the song………..so, what do you think about Davido’s lyrics in “Osinachi” remix? Let us know in the comment box below.
