Genevieve Nnaji is a Dora Milaje in Marvel’s “Avengers: Infinity War”
Nollywood’s screen goddess, Genevieve Nnaji has reportedly been casted in Marvel’s Avenger’s : Infinity War. This would make it the second Hollywood film, the actor would be starring in this year. She was earlier reported to have been casted in Akinnuagbaje’s Farming. The actor’s name was published among the 71 cast members of Avengers: Infinity Wars on popular movie review website, IMDB, where it was revealed she will be a member of Dora Milaje, a team of women who serve as personal bodyguards of the Black Panther, the spiritual leader of the fictional African kingdom, Wakanda.
In 2016, while at Tiff (Toronto International Film Festival), Genevieve applauded the film, Avengers for having a touch of Lagos while insisting on casting Nigerians not just anyone to play a Nigerian character. In her words, no foreigner can sound Nigerian, “our accent is distinct”. She spoke and they listened. At least, we hope. Last week, IMDB published Funke Akindele’s name on the site. No one is very sure of this as Genevieve Nnaji is yet to confirm the news.
The “Avengers: Infinity War” movie, which is being directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, has been set for a May 4, 2018, release.
