The former governor of Gombe state governor, Abubakar Hashidu, has been confirmed dead today as reports suggests.
Close sources to the family said Mr Hashidu died Friday morning at his home in Gombe after battling Alzheimers disease for some years.
The late former governor was 74 years old.
Mr Hashidu was governor of Gombe state from May 1999 to May 2003. His party was called All Peoples Party (APP)
One of the family friend who revealed the death of the former governor said he would be buried by 5pm today.
Mr Hashidu was also a Minister of Water Resources as well as a Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development during the military regime of Ibrahim Babangida in the past.
He was also a member of the Vision committee set up by late head of state, Sani Abacha in 2010.
