Drogba set for Chelsea return?
According to reports in French publication L’Equipe,
the 36-year-old is set to sign a one-year contract with the Premier
League giants this week, in what will be his last year as a
professional. The Ivorian international will then be offered a coaching
role at the Bridge the following season.
Drogba, who has spent the last 18 months playing his trade in Turkey
for Galatasaray, is now a free agent, having seen out his contract with
Turkish Super Lig side.
And despite Jose Mourinho insisting he will not sign any more players
this season, there is space for Drogba to be included in the squad,
following the departure of Senegalese forward Demba Ba to Besiktas,
while Romelu Lukaku’s future in London still remains uncertain.
It is no secret that Mourinho has a special relationship with Drogba,
who spent eight years as a Blue, scoring 157 goals on his way to
winning three League titles, four FA Cups and the 2012 Champions League
