A retired Assistant Superintendent of Police have just been killed by suspected cultist who can to his house to kill his son but ended up killing him and the younger son instead.
The gang attacked the retired officer and son at his home in David Mark by-pass area of Makurdi searching for one of his sons who allegedly belonged to a rival cult group.
An eyewitness speaking to the press said, ‘For sometime before the killing, we noticed some strange movements around our neighbourhood only for us to discover today that members of a particular cult group took over our area in search of another son of Mr. Akogwu,who is currently at large. However, what happened today was that some members of the gang had laid an ambush for the boy, hoping that they would get him in the early hours of the day and kill him for reasons we do not know,” the source continued, adding, “Unfortunately, his mother, who trades in cooked food, came out as early as 4a.m. to prepare for the day’s business and members of the gang seized her and demanded for the whereabouts of her son.”
“She started shouting for help; it was her alarm that woke up people in the neighbourhood and also attracted her husband and one of her sons, who went to her rescue but were instantly gunned down by the gang,” the source said.
“The victims were immediately rushed to the Makurdi Federal Medical Centre, where they were confirmed dead,” the source concluded.
The report have been confirmed by the Police Public relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent Moses Yamu. He said the police were yet to arrest suspects at the time of filing this report.
