Loic Remy has returned to Chelsea after suffering an ankle injury at Crystal Palace, just over a week following his season-long loan move to Selhurst Park.
Remy sustained the problem earlier this week during a training session, and is now expected to be out of action for the next few weeks. The French striker will be continually assessed by the Palace medical team during his rehabilitation, as they will liaise with their Chelsea counterparts to monitor his progress.
This will be a huge blow for both Remy and Alan Pardew, as the former looked for more game time in the Premier League while the latter hoped to solve Palace’s problems in the final third. The Eagles struggled for goals last term and spent heavily over the summer to rectify the issue, recruiting Christian Benteke and Andros Townsend.
