Argentina edge Bosnia & Herzegovina

Argentina edge Bosnia & Herzegovina

Argentina got off to a good start as they won a free kick in a
dangerous position, which Angel Di Maria delivered into the Bosnian
area, only for Kolasinac to knock the ball into his own net.

Not much action after the own goal, with both sides going forward
without any real menace. Passing in the final third from either side
went wayward in their attempts to find space through the defences.

A double change at half-time and a change in formation for Argentina,
saw Fernando Gago replacing Campagnaro and Gonzalo Higuain introduces
in place of Maxi Rodriguez.

The double change seemed to have sparked some inspiration in the
Argentinian attack with Di Maria, Aguero and Messi combining well and
putting pressure on the Bosnian defence.

Seconds after a dismal free-kick in a good area, Messi doubled
Argentina’s lead after a neat one-two with Higuain, slotting home into
the bottom left corner of Begovic’s goal – the Argentine captain’s first
World Cup goal in his last eight attempts.

Ibisevic pulled one back for Bosnia, scoring their first ever World
Cup goal, and the World Cup debutants looked as though they could pull
off a come-back.

It wasn’t to be though as a tired, nervous-looking Argentina held out
for the three points to go top of Group F ahead of Nigeria vs Iran.
